This upper back stretch is a simple one to do either sitting or standing. If you experience tight shoulders, this stretch can help loosen those muscles and also helps the muscles in the neck as well.
To do this upper back stretch, start either sitting or standing comfortably with your spine straight and your chin parallel to the ground. Clasp your hands together at the base of your neck. Start by gently pulling up toward the ceiling, then, keeping that traction, bow your chin slowly toward your chest until you feel a stretch. Hold the position where you can feel a stretch but it’s not painful. Breathe deeply to the count of twenty and release.
