Tight shoulders can affect nearly everyone. Whether you sit in one position at a desk all day or you do you manual labor, having tight shoulders can be painful. Try this simple shoulder stretch to help relieve some tension.
Start kneeling on a firm but comfortable surface, such as a yoga mat or a rug. If kneeling hurts, you can also place a folded blanket on the floor and kneel on that.
Place both hands on the floor so you’re creating a table top position with your body. Your wrists should be directly under your shoulders and your back should be flat.
Take your right hand and slide it along the floor behind your left palm and continuing straight out to the left as far as you comfortably can. Ideally, your right shoulder and upper arm are resting on the floor. Keep your left hand on the floor for support and balance. You can also rest your right cheek on the floor.
Breathe slowly in and out in this position to the count of ten.
To come out of the pose, tighten your abdominal muscles and press into your left hand to lift your upper body. Switch sides and repeat.
