The sphinx pose is a gentle way to help with low back pain. To do this pose, lie down on your stomach on a flat but comfortable surface. The tops of your feet should be on the ground; your lower body should be relaxed.
Raise yourself up with your arms and place your elbows on the floor directly below your shoulders. Your arms should create a 90-degree angle. Keep your head up and your chin paralell to the floor. Once you feel stable on your arms, breathe deeply and focus on releasing any tension in your low back and buttocks. Breathe deeply in and out to the count of 20 before lowering yourself back to the floor. If Sphinx pose feels too intense, lower yourself slightly to release pressure.
